Many times the Semiconductor manufacturer will list only one or two frequency control devices, only looking at the specifications that are required by the chip and not necessarily what fits the end customers applications. A typical example is when a large crystal package is used, but the end application is for something small and requires a much smaller crystal package than what is on the reference design. The solution is not as simple as switching to a smaller package as the crystal drive level, ESR, and other factors may come into play.
To solve this problem for our customers we have created a tool that allows you to input the semiconductor you are timing and any application specific requirements you may have. We can then advise you on the most compatible frequency control device.
